Can exercise improve mental health?

Studies show that exercise can treat mild to moderate depression just as effectively as antidepressants. People who exercise regularly tend to do so because it gives them an enormous sense of well-being. They feel more energetic throughout the day, sleep better at night, have sharper memories, and feel more relaxed and positive about themselves and their lives.

According to helpguide, spending hours in the gym daily is not required in other to reap mental health benefit of exercising. 30-minutes of moderate exercise five times a week, two 15-minute exercise 5 days a week or even three 10-minute exercise sessions couple of times a week can do the trick. A little bit of activity is better than nothing.

(Moderate exercise in this contest refers to;
1. That you breathe a little heavier than normal, but are not out of breath.  For example, you should be able to chat with your walking partner, but not easily sing a song.
2.That your body feels warmer as you move, but not overheated or very sweaty).

Tips for staying motivated when you’re also struggling with mental health
1.Focus on activities you enjoy
2.Start small, set realistic targets for yourself
3.Reward yourself (not need to be modest, be proud of what you have achieved and treat yourself to something nice; i.e a smoothie, binge on your favourite series, anything to congratulate yourself).
4.Make exercise a social activity (if possible, exercise with a friend or a love one. This helps pass the time a lot quicker)
