I read an article not long ago that made me sick. The article made me so sick I had to look into it , I had to do my own research and make my own conclusion. Just as the heading suggests, the article I read, explained why there are no blacks in Argentina. For those who have been following the ongoing FifaWorldCup2018, you may have noticed Argentina to be the only South America nation with no black football player.
Back to my point, back to how Argentina systematically murdered millions of Africans living in Argentina. Although slavery was abolished in 1815, it continued in Argentina till 1853. After that the main preoccupation of the leaders was how to get rid of the black
Domingo Faustino Sarmiento the Argentinan president 1868 to 1874 wrote in his diary in 1848 'In the United States… 4 million are black, and within 20 years will be 8 million…. What is to be done with such blacks, hated by the white race?'
So what did they do? After Domingo Faustino Sarmiento became president, policies and legislations aimed at ending the lives of blacks were passed. More than half of black male population were focused to fight for Argentina against Paraguay. They were knowingly sent into battles that were poorly planned so that the Paraguay army will do for Argentina what Argentina could not do themselves. Kill the blacks.
The remaining blacks were forced to live in this province were there was plague. A disease that the government refused to curb so that it can also do for them what they could not do. Kill the blacks. The government refused to set up hospitals, clinics, adequate shelter, and food outlets. They created the best environment for the disease to thrive. It killed a vast majority of the men that had survived the war.
The darker you are, the higher the chance of you been sent to plague invested province to live or to the war to die.
The lighter skinned women were apparently forced to sleep with white men so that their children would be of light skin. Later on in life, the children will then be forced to sleep with white men so as to visibly erase "the black skin" from the society. Lives for blacks in Argentina were so bad many fled to Chile, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil and even Paraguay.
The CIA World Factbook currently notes that Argentina is 97 percent white thereby making it the “whitest” nation in Latin America.
But blacks did not really vanish from Argentina – despite attempts by the government to eliminate them, rather, they remain a hidden and forgotten part of Argentine society.
AfricaVive, a black empowerment group founded in Buenos Aires in the late 1990s, claimed that there are 1 million Argentines of black African descent in the country.
How Argentina systematically and politically murdered millions of blacks is one of the most disturbing research I have done in a long time. Not sure how to react or how to feel not just because I am African but because I am human and just cannot understand why some people do the horrible things they do.
Some people may disagree with this but now am really happy Argentina has been knocked out of Fifaworldcup2018.
